One of my all time favorite movies is Reality Bites with Winona Ryder & Ethan Hawke, and one of many quotable scenes is the “You and me and five bucks“. Of course, in that scene, the characters were referring to being able to have a good time on a coffee & cigarette budget. Granted nowadays a coffee may run you 5 bucks, but in fashion there can be such a thing as having a good time and looking great on a budget. So just because (like me) you can’t buy those $400 Miu Miu sunglasses doesn’t mean that there aren’t some affordable knock-offs to be had.
On my recent family visit to San Diego, I found this hole-in-the-wall shop at the mall with quite reasonable prices, including a pair of sunglasses for only 5 bucks, that are ringers for the brand name ones I’ve been eyeing lately. I was super ecstatic, nabbed them right away, and walked away feeling like true fashionista winner, hahaha.
So remember just because you can’t drop down big cash on a pair of sunglasses, doesn’t meant that you can’t look and feel like a million bucks. Shop your local boutique shop or go to downtown, and you will find that $5 treasure, I promise!
You and Me and 5 Bucks, Baby!
To my glorious surprise, I found out that H&M offers items for the Home for great prices! I have been thinking about finishing up my reading nook area in my bedroom, and this is the wishlist that I’m currently stalking & trying to make happen.
What do You think?
I took advantage of a sale that Evans was having last week and bought myself a cool shirt! I liked it because it reminded me of Summer- cool shades & great places to vacation. I was so happy with the way it felt and looked on me too. I was able to pair it up with some white shorts and decided to paint my nails in hues of pink and blue and a dash of pink on my pout! I also found the perfect bracelet sitting my armswag collection.
Why do women have to be the primary focus of red carpet looks?
I, for one, would like the men to also bring their A game to the red rug. Plain black suits just ain’t cuttin’ it! That’s why we teamed up with luxury bespoke bow tie maker L ‘a Barr from Bitchin Bowties to give you a VIP tour of her rockin’ looks that would give the most fashionable women red carpet envy.
Her one of a kind bows are delicately made with such sophistication They are classy with a rockin’ edge. We haven’t seen anything out there like them. What we loved most about the ties is its versatility. These neck accents have definitely added a flair to my wardrobe, and I have even been stopped on the street for admiration. Dressed up or dressed down, they are definitely a statement piece that will give people something to talk about.
We are so excited to show you our 8 eight exclusive looks that we created pairing up the bow ties with what we have in our everyday closet.

*We want to give a very special shout out & thanks to our friend Justin who took time away from his day to be our model for the these great looks!
Taylor Tomasi Hill recently teamed up with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop to do a guest editorial piece on NYFW, and I completely fell in love with the simplicity of her fashion picks.
This particular one, where she is wearing a Rosie Assoulin dress, Zara sandals, & a Junya Watanabe jacket, is my favorite! It is clean, simple yet has a dab of edge to it. Of course, the retail value of what she is wearing is close to $5,000! So I gave myself the task to find a similar style for less.
Here are my picks….
H&M Biker Jacket $200, H&M Strapless Dress $70, Forever21 Retro Cat Eye Sunglasses $6, Zara Jeweled Clutch $70, Jeffrey Campbell Adler Sandal $98
This look is valued under $450!
A great runway look for less.
I’m a holidays kinda gal, and I love dressing up for special occasions, so of course, I went in search of the perfect outfit for the day of LOVE!
Hey, nothing makes a girl feel better than a great outfit, right?
Celine Paris T-Shirt, Forever21 Skirt, Lucky Sensation Bracelet, Lucky Sensation Necklace, Zara Bag, Wildfox Sunglasses, Modcloth Shoes
I’ve been looking for that Celine T-shirt for a while, so I was excited when I found it on Etsy. The shoes are my favorite; Modcloth has the best stuff. If you are a plus-size gal like me, you can find the red pencil skirt at Sonsi.
What will you be wearing on the 14th?
It all started out with these pair of Modcloth Alphabet shoes that got me hooked on finding the perfect outfit to match them up with.
Did you ever make words when you ate alphabet soup as a kid? I remember getting fixated on finding all possible words I could spell and then eating them as my reward! I guess that’s where my inspiration for this weeks fashion picks came from that and my love for scrabble.
Wow! We loved how sexy Scarlett Johansson looks while keeping warm.
Now you can look hot too with these bargain finds.
Where to Buy: Trina Turk Belted Wrap Coat, Zara Sleeveless Dress, Sam Edelman Della Shoes, Nasty Gal Blank Stare Shades
I know there are mixed feelings about wearing UGGs now a days, but I say create your own style especially if it’s going to make you feel warm, cozy, and comfortable!
Since it has been really chilly lately in my neck of the woods, I broke out all my UGGs and boots to keep my pretty little toes from freezing. It also gave me the inspiration to look for some fancy new ones to add to my Winter boot collection cause I’m all about the bling & fur this year!
Here are some contenders.
Boots fit for a Snow Princess
Stomping the rain in glitter & pizzazz
The Golden Boot for the Golden Year!
Alternative fur boot for the Alternative girl
Will make you feel like a true snow bunny.
The Dr. Zhivago of Boots.
Now for the tough choice of deciding which ones to get. Which ones would you choose?
While everybody might be going crazy for the new Alexander Wang Beats by Dr.Dre priced at $450, I simply want the Taylor Rose Gold headphones by Frends which are only $199.
I tried them out at Target and automatically fell in love. I compared the sound quality on both the Beats and Frends, and couldn’t tell the difference. I guess the real question is, if you’re going to shell out over $2oo for a pair of headphones, do you choose style over popularity?
I choose the former. Why? Because they are simply chic and stylish, and have interchangeable headphone caps to match your mood or style!
Can’t wait for Santa to deliver these under my Christmas tree because I know I’ve been a good girl.
