You & Me & 5 Bucks

One of my all time favorite movies is Reality Bites with Winona Ryder & Ethan Hawke, and one of many quotable scenes is the “You and me and five bucks“.  Of course, in that scene, the characters were referring to being able to have a good time on a coffee & cigarette budget.  Granted nowadays a coffee may run you 5 bucks, but in fashion there can be such a thing as having a good time and looking great on a budget. So just because (like me) you can’t buy those $400 Miu Miu sunglasses doesn’t mean that there aren’t some affordable knock-offs to be had.

On my recent family visit to San Diego, I found this hole-in-the-wall shop at the mall with quite reasonable prices, including a pair of sunglasses for only 5 bucks, that are ringers for the brand name ones I’ve been eyeing lately.  I was super ecstatic, nabbed them right away, and walked away feeling like true fashionista winner, hahaha.

So remember just because you can’t drop down big cash on a pair of sunglasses, doesn’t meant that you can’t look and feel like a million bucks.  Shop your local boutique shop or go to downtown, and you will find that $5 treasure, I promise!

Miami Dreamin’

I took advantage of a sale that Evans was having last week and bought myself a cool shirt!  I liked it because it reminded me of Summer- cool shades & great places to vacation. I was so happy with the way it felt and looked on me too. I was able to pair it up with some white shorts and decided to paint my nails in hues of pink and blue and a dash of pink on my pout!  I also found the perfect bracelet sitting my armswag collection.

The New Stalking Beauty

Hello Beauties!

Clarity here, excited to let you know that Stalking Beauty went through a transformation! Yaay!

This blog has now turned into a one woman show!  We had originally started Stalking Beauty as a two sibling perspective, but since one of us decided to go in a different direction and pursue other endeavors, Stalking Beauty is strictly my own blog now.  That isn’t to say that I won’t have great guest bloggers every now and then and maybe a cameo appearance here and there from my brother Ellie.

My goal with this blog is to just bring you my take on life which includes: fashion, beauty, design, entertainment, and food, so in other words most of what I’ve been loving and sharing with you all along.  I hope that you like it and choose to stick around!

A little bit about me.  I am a graduate student who hopes to graduate by the end of this year with a Masters in Human Development and hopes to start her own Child Development Specialist Consultant business.  I have 20 years experience in trying to improve the needs of children and their families.  I started this blog with the purpose of getting my creative writing skills flowing again since I have loved to write since I can remember.  My passions are jewelry, reading, music, and my cute little Maltese named Cash.  I currently am an Independent Jewelry Consultant and hope to share some of my style tips and deals with you once a week.

Since I am currently working on my thesis, it doesn’t allow much time to do fun writing on the side, but my goal is to at least publish posts three times a week for now.  I hope that you will like and enjoy the new and updated version of this blog!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Stalking Weekly

I’m a little late on my weekly roundup, but it has been a hectic week with doctor visits and school work.  Nonetheless, I wanted to share what we have been stalking this week!

1. French Music

Lately, I have been in a French mood.  I’ve never been to France, but it’s a definite on my to do list.  So for now I have been on a French music kick.  I’m currently rockin’ some Brigitte Bardot.

2.  Gemma Correll’s Tumblr

This cartoonist, writer, and illustrator has been bringing a smile to my  face on a weekly basis with her cute and funny illustrations.  If you are looking for a quick pick me up, check her Tumblr or blog out.  She will turn your frown upside down 🙂

3.  Chanel Headphones

Yes, it’s happening! Chanel & Monster teamed up to make some quilted Chanel headphones and I’m obsessed (let’s be hones, they had me at “Chanel”)!   I probably won’t be able to afford them, but a girl can dream to have it’s lovely softness caressing her ears as she is listening to some French music of course!

4. Doggie Yoga

So apparently doggie yoga is the latest trend, and I’m so close to trying it.  I know it might sound silly, but how cute would it be bringing your pup to yoga class or in my case Youtube-ing  it and following along in the privacy of my own home, hehe. I’m sure my Cash would love it!

Cash not amused with doggie yoga! LOL!

5. This Week’s Mantra

I read an interview on society icon Lynn Wyatt where she defined her personal style as, “Class with a dash of sass but never trash.”  I think I fell in love with her at that moment.  I thought her answer was so brilliant, I had to adopt it as my own  forever fashion mantra.  Thank you Lynn for your wise words.

What are were you stalking this past week?

State It With A Ring

Don’t just make a statement with a necklace, but also make it with a ring!

On those days you want some simplicity on your neck, add a bold ring to make your outfit pop, not to mention your mani will look great.

I recently found these 3 accent rings that have been my latest statement obsession.

1. The Cocktail Ring

2. The Designer Classic

3.  The Vintage Statement

So bring on the bling with a great ring!

The Trend is Mightier Than The Word

The Doodles That Set a Trend

When I’m home alone with time to spare, I have a tendency to stalk celebrities on their Instagram, particularly the breathtaking Rosie Huntington-Whitely. I’m like obsessed with her clothes, lips, and everything else she does, which is actually how I came across Cyrielle, the visionary artist behind Trendydoodles.  When I saw the drawing she made of my role model, Rosie, I instantly fell in love with the work that she does! Naturally, I too, had to have a trendy doodle!

So I did what any aspiring journalist/blogger would do, I contacted the artist herself to inquire about doing a special doodle for us.  I must say that it was such a pleasurable experience interacting with her.  She is extremely nice, and even granted us the honor of a mini interview about her work.

Here is what the artist had to say:

SB: When & what made you start Trendy Doodles?

C: It’s a bit of a long story: After I finished my studies in art direction, I started looking for a job in an agency. I searched for almost a year getting negative answers after negative answers, and about 3 months ago, I thought I just couldn’t take it anymore so decided to start working for myself. I always thought it was too risky to be a freelance illustrator because you never know if it’s going to work out or if you’ll earn enough money to make a living out of it.   That’s why, in the end, I’m so glad these people said no to me; otherwise, I would have never had the courage to start my own thing. The funny thing is, three weeks after I started Trendydoodles, I had a callback for a job! I didn’t want to drop my new project, so I asked if I could work part time and they said yes!

SB: How old were you when you became interested in drawing?

C: As far as I remember, I’ve always loved drawing. I was very easy as a kid because my parents could just give me a pen and some paper and I would draw quietly for hours!

SB: Okay, I know this is going to sound cliché, but who are your influences?

C: To be honest I don’t think I have any. I try to invent my own style, and I don’t like copying.  It’s unfair to the other artist and there is no honor in taking someone else’s ideas.  There is one artist I admire beyond words: William-Adolphe Bouguereau.  His technique is perfect, and his paintings are so poetic and feminine. I love other painters of course such as Dali, but I don’t want to draw “tortured” or depressing things. My drawings are not deep or meaningful.  I just want to make people happy with cute and positive doodles.

SB: Your doodles are very beautiful, how long would you say it takes you to perfect one of your creations?

C: Thank you! It doesn’t take very long because they are super small. It usually takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour.

SB: If you could have any person (living or dead) sit before you waiting to be “doodle-ized”, who would it be?

C: That’s a good question! The first woman that comes to my mind is Cleopatra because I’m sure she was a great beauty (she had quite a good sense of fashion ).   I would also love to meet Dita Von Teese.  She’s gorgeous and seems like a really nice person.

SB: In let’s say, 5 years, where do you see yourself and your artwork going?

C: I just started building my own e-shop.  I’m going to sell iPhone cases, temporary tattoos, and other girly stuff.  I hope this will work out!  Who knows maybe in 5 years I’ll have the opportunity to illustrate book covers or music albums.   I’m open to any opportunities.  Basically, I’d like it to be my full-time job. I also hope that I will make progress as an artist because my technique is far from being perfect!

We feel so fortunate to have a piece of her artwork!  If you are looking for an adorable, charming, and stylish print to add to your home or office décor, please visit Cyrielle’s Tumblr, Trendydoodles to see her vast array of fashionable doodles.  You can follow her on Facebook and Instagram as well.   Her artwork is free for personal use, but if you would like your very own customized portrait, she can make one just for you, just like she did for us!

This is our very own doodle made by Cyrielle! Don’t you just love it!

The process is easy, and she is the sweetest and super easy to talk to.  All you need to do is email her @ , and let her know what you would like.

Before you know it, your wall will be a trending topic!

Bitchin’ Bowties

Why do women have to be the primary focus of red carpet looks?

I, for one, would like the men to also bring their A game to the red rug.  Plain black suits just ain’t cuttin’ it!  That’s why we teamed up with luxury bespoke bow tie maker L ‘a Barr from Bitchin Bowties  to give you a VIP tour of her rockin’ looks that would give the most fashionable women red carpet envy.

Her one of a kind bows are delicately made with such sophistication  They are classy with a rockin’ edge.   We haven’t seen anything out there like them.  What we loved most about the ties is its versatility.  These neck accents have definitely added a flair to my wardrobe, and I have even been stopped on the street for admiration.  Dressed up or dressed down, they are definitely a statement piece that will give people something to talk about.
