Watching Sundance Channel’s reality series Push Girls makes me feel like such a lazy ass. I mean these women know how to get the job done in a wheelchair with class!
I was really impressed with the rawness and genuineness of the show. It is the complete antithesis of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise. Instead of stagy fights, cattiness, and put downs, these women share a bond of friendship that is strengthened through their disability. They are not there to criticize each other, but to support their struggles and accomplishments in life. Not only is it empowering to women, but people with disabilities as well. It breaks down the stereotype of viewing individuals with physical impairments as frail and dependent. On the contrary, it loudly lets you know that just because certain parts of your body don’t work as they should doesn’t mean that you can’t live your life.
But you don’t have to take my word for it; watch for yourself and believe!
