Forever Young: 4 Face Masks that will Change your Life Under $10.

faceshop

Today has been the fifth time a friend has complained about their skin. Now, I was going to hold out because let’s face it, I want to remain the hottest out of all my friends.  But then I thought, that’s going to happen regardless,  so I might as well share with you, what I shared with them.

I first discovered, The Face Shop five years ago. I remember I had to pick up my sister from work (in the mid-Wilshire area) and thought, “ugh, the traffic.” Since I absolutely hate traffic, I did the unthinkable, I arrived early! So, what does one do, when they are alone with time to kill? Shop, duh! At first,  I noticed that all the shops were in Japanese or Korean? Which made things a little harder but after awhile I totally felt like Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation (minus Bill Murray).  After browsing around and trying out a pastry (or six), I stumbled upon a beauty store, which from the moment I entered, I fell in love.

As always, I asked a billion questions (but as Oprah says, information is power) and so they recommended a couple of  face masks, which til this day, are the BEST ones I have ever tried (no offense to Lush).  Also, I want to let it be known, that I think Asian people in general, have GORGEOUS skin, so if it’s good enough for their skin, it’s good enough for mine.

real nature mask rice

1) Real Nature Mask Rice. This mask helps when your skin is feeling blah. Like, let’s say if you normally have a “glow” but it kinda goes away, well , this one totally helps revitalize and give you a pick me up.

2) Fresh Fruit Acelora Mask Sheet. The first time I used this one, I stole it from my sister. After that, I started buying it in bulk. This mask helps hydrate your skin, especially if it’s dry. I tend to use this more in the winter because I have combination skin.

real nature mask mung bean

3)Mung Bean Face Mask. This mask  helps if you have acne prone skin and it’s also great for your pores.  Around this time, I use this one often because of the season (yes, even the best skin types can breakout in the summer).

essential collagen mask sheet

4) Collagen Mask Sheet.  Okay, seriously, this mask will get you a date.  I once dated a guy who only dated 20 year olds (and well, I haven’t been 20 for  six four years now) and he still dated me.  I’m not going to say it’ll take ten years off because it won’t but it does help.

So there you have it, folks.  Oh and one more thing, when putting on these masks, do it alone because for 20 mins, you’ll kinda look like this:

Put Some Tea on It: Green Tea & Aloe Vera Mask

GTAloeMask1

It’s Sunday night, so it’s time to just sit and relax before the crazy week gets started again.  I was looking for a refreshing facial mask to cool me off from this aggravating heat, and low and behold I  came across this restorative mask that is easy to make from items you typically have in your home.

Not only is it affordable, but simple to make!  It will make you feel as fresh as a Winter’s day.

Ingredients:

♥ 1/2 Cup Green Tea

♥ 1/2 Cup Aloe Vera Gel

Directions:

Original directions called for “strongly brewed” Green Tea, so I boiled some water and let the Green Tea steep in  the water for about 10 minutes.

Kettle

Combine the Green Tea and Aloe Vera Gel and mix

Apply on your face and leave it on for 10 minutes.

You can store the remaining mix in a container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

I tried it cold as well right after I took a shower and it made me feel like a brand new me that is ready to face the new week!

Original Recipe comes from Tea and Tisanes

Film Review: The To Do List

The_To_Do_List_poster

Ever since I saw Safety Not Guaranteed, I became a huge fan of Aubrey Plaza’s dead pan humor. So when I found out that this weekend, The To Do list, hit theaters, I was beyond psyched.  Normally, I’m not a big fan of comedy films but this one had me laughing til the end.

Brandy Clark (Plaza), a 17 year old high school graduate, invites you to tag  along on her “to do list” of sexual awakening until she reaches the ultimate goal of “popping her cherry” before college.

After careful note taking from her sexpert sister and her best friends cheering her on, she is willfully determined to conquer the world–sexually.

Now, if you are easily offended  or crude humor makes you uncomfortable, then this is not the film for you. On the other hand if it doesn’t, then where do I begin?  First, there’s hand jobs, blow jobs, motorboating, finger bombing…you name it.

In addition, the uncompromising situations she gets herself into are hilariously funny…I’ll give you a hint (it involves pineapple juice).

Everything about this film brought me back to my childhood, the clothes, music, and especially the pop culture references.

If you’re a 90s kid (like me) then it might inspire you to make your own “to do” list or relive the first time you had a big O.

8/10.

Must Watch: Orange is the New Black

Mad Men ….Check, Breaking bad…Check, Dexter…Check!

I finally finished catching up on all my favorite tv shows, so I decided to scour for some new guilty pleasures.  It seems like everyone has been talking about this show called Orange is the New Black, but honestly I did not know what they were talking about until it drove past me on a bus like Carrie Bradshaw.

I looked it up and found out it was from Weeds creator ,Jenji Kohan, was behind this season’s new hit color.  I was glad to see Taylor Schilling in a role that was meant for her because she was too old for playing Zac Efron’s love interest in the Lucky One.  I also like Laura Prepon’s hair color, but not her voice.

From the opening scene (t.v. tits) to the creative uses of feminine products in prison (not jail) the show proved itself to be a Netflix hit and worthy of the Twitter explosion.

So give it a try because Piper Chapman will be your new favorite hasbian.

Forget Orange is the new pink because Orange is the New Black!

Film Review: The Conjuring

conjuring_ver2_xlg

Yesterday night, I dragged  some friends to watch The Conjuring with me.  Honestly, it all started with fun and games until I saw the petrified look on their faces. Now, I’m not one to get easily scared but the added shrieks coming from my pals made me think, “hmm, has my love for horror films jaded me?” Earlier this year, when the trailer was released, I immediately thought, “eh, this is going to be lame, another Amityville knockoff.”  But clearly, I was mistaken. Yes, I thought some of the elements were a bit predictable, for instance, the youngest daughter had to befriend a ghost and  of course  most of the “jump” scenes were intentionally put for shock value.  But aside from that, it had a solid story with plenty of intrigue and character development.

The Conjuring Pic - 0013

In the beginning of the film, you are immediately drawn to the the Perron family (the ones being tormented). Ron Livingston and Lily Tomlin, give a terrific performance as frightened parents trying to protect their five daughters from evil. As for Patrick Wilson and Vera Fermiga, they also do a great job as paranormal investigators aiming to help rid the family of demonic possession.

James-Wan-conjuring

Director, James Wan, is no stranger to the horror genre, previously he worked on Dead Silence, Saw, and Insidious--all of which I liked.  So naturally, I went in with high expectations but also with a bit of skepticism since most “supernatural” movies have the same plot line.

For a film that’s story has been done so many times, I thought it was surprisingly original. Hands down, it was better than The Possession, The Last Exorcism, and all those other supernatural flicks. It’s definitely a must watch if you are a fan or horror. 9/10

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, why no it’s Mr. Darcy!

Oh My Dear Mr. Darcy,

Why do you stand there looking so erect and alone? I fear that I will have to come to you soon, and cure your ailing loneliness.

Yours Truly,

Elizabeth Bennet

A giant statue of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice rose up for display at London’s Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park as part of a promotional stint for UKTV’s Drama channel.

Now, if I could only raise enough money to get myself to jolly ol’ England, so I could swim out and cling on to him.

That would be priceless!

Strip the Night Away with Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett and Gretchen Rossi at Your Bachelorette Party!

So I stumbled across this advertisement for the 2nd Annual World’s Largest Bachelorette Party at Tao Las Vegas.  It is apparently being hosted by OC Housewife Gretchen Rossi and The Girls Next Door alum Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett.

This event is a 3 day sinful extravaganza that will allow you to rub elbows with these reality T.V. personalities while you’re sipping on Skinny Girl margaritas (but of course!), watching Kendra try to relive her mansion days and have Gretchen pimp out her new line of sex toys (she really doesn’t have a line of sex toys, but i’m sure it’s crossed her mind).

It is well known that much of reality T.V. stars income comes from appearances, so chaching! for them. Hey, a girl’s gotta pay the bills, right(?)!

So if you don’t have any self-respect plans for the weekend of July 19th-21st, just head on over to Vegas to join this hot and sweaty event!  Tickets only start at $99.
