I used to celebrate Black History month by reading autobiographies of prominent black leaders, eating fried chicken, and having a Tyler Perry movie marathon (words cannot describe how much I love him) but realistically, the month of February is much more than that. It is a month to honor African Americans who have made a deep impact in our society. Among my personal favorites are individuals like Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King Jr. and Toni Morrison.
In her latest book, Home, Toni Morrison brilliantly tells a story of a young soldier who embarks on a journey back home after the Korean War. This fascinating read will have you asking yourself, “is it possible to define a sense of “home” after having left it?”
