Welcome Back, Winona

hello 90s

The other day I was browsing around the mall and thought, “Why does everything look like Winona Ryder’s closet circa the 90s?” From floral dresses to loose fitting jeans,  it’s like we’ve time traveled back to when Stephanie Seymour graced Vogue,  Brenda and Dylan (or Dylan and Kelly) dated, and of course Miss Ryder ruled the big screen.

Stripes in Curves

Who says you can’t wear stripes if you have curves?

Just because some of us our young and voluptuous doesn’t mean we need to look like old bag ladies; that’s why  I’m always on the look out for trendy attire that will make us feel fashionable and hip.

White Chocolate Pumpkin Cookies

Friday night my girlfriend, Linny, calls me and says (in a deep Armenian voice) “I dislocated my knee while reaching down for a twix bar!” I clung to my phone and thought, “umm, did she really just say that?” So she begs me to save her from isolation and hunger by baking her my now infamous white chocolate pumpkin cookies.

  • 1 cup of pumpkin (canned)
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 teasoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup of walnuts (diced)
  • 1 cup of white chocolate

In a bowl, you will first mix the pumpkin, oil and sugar for about 2 minutes,

then you will add the vanilla and eggs for another 2 minutes,

finally you will add the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, walnuts, and white  chocolate.

Lastley, Butter or spray a baking sheet,  use a spoon and dollop batter onto sheet (make sure to leave some space  inbetween each cookie) and bake @ 375 for 10 to 13 mins

Voila! Delicious cookies for an injured friend (guaranteed to make their buttons burst at the seams).

I took an extra step and crafted them up by wrapping them up in cellophane, making a pink tulle bow, and made some pink crutches!

Oscar Fashion

The  only thing that kept me from falling asleep while watching the 85th Annual Academy Awards was the celebrity fashion. There were a lot of fashion do’s and plenty of don’ts (uhhmm…Anne Hathaway) but all that aside this year had a lot of great fashion stars.

Lily Collins

2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Arrivals

Very impressive, I see her going places.

Miranda Kerr

2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Arrivals

I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone whose occupation is to be gorgeous.

Salma Hayek

I’m pretty sure her closet costs more than an island.

Zoe Saldana

I just loved her in Colombiana.

Jennifer Lawrence

When she fell, I literally fell in love with her 100xs more!

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan

Magic Mike and Jenna D can never do wrong in my book.

Naomi Watts

It must kill Nicole Kidman to know her best friend will always do it better.

Charlize Theron

It’s unnatural to be this beautiful.

Naomi Harris

 Halle Berry, you’ve been replaced.

Miss Wu

In January, Jason Wu launched his new line, Miss Wu exclusively at Nordstrom. You can categorize this under “a late fashion tale” but his 60’s inspired designs are too hard to ignore. From trench coats, to blouses, to skirts and denim, it seems that everything in his line is perfection to the T.  It’s versatile style can turn any day outfit into a night outfit by just adding a sweater or coat and transforming you into the belle of the ball.

The Hough Post

Julianne Hough and Sole Society

Julianne Hough can now add designer to her resume as she collaborates with Sole Society in their new Spring shoe collection found exclusively at Nordstrom retailers. She describes the designs as “fashion forward, fun, and approachable” but in our opinion they are everything but those things.

The styles are unoriginal, cheap, and a tad overpriced for what you’re getting. It’s obvious that Ryan Seacrest has put her on the Kardashian Empire-building program since her movie career hasn’t exactly scored tens.   Now don’t get us wrong, we like Julianne, she’s a smart girl; after all, she did sign up hook up with entertainment czar Ryan Seacrest.

Two points for Hough, zero for Sole Society.

Parfums de Marque: Mademoiselle by Chanel

You can never go wrong with Chanel; that’s why I decided to add Mademoiselle to my trademark scent collection.  It’s elegant, light, fresh, sweet, and powdery.

Wear it during the day and then layer a little  Chanel N°5 for the evening. I love combining scents for a personal and unique signature fragrance!

The 85th Annual Anne Hathaway Awards

This Sunday the 85th Annual Academy Awards will be broadcast for your viewing pleasure.  Who wears what, who’s with who, who’s gone to the “dentist”, and who’s broken up, those are the questions we will be asking as they stroll down the red carpet.  The most important question is, “who will win?”, and of course we’ve got all the answers.

Our takes on the Best Picture contenders

If I’m going to watch old people in love, I’d rather watch The Notebook.

Ben Affleck didn’t think so either.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

Django Unchained

Once again Leo DiCaprio gets shunned for an Oscar

Les Miserables

Starring, directed by, scored by, written by, and ruined by Anne Hathaway

I was forced to like this because my brother-in-law did CG for the movie and he took me to the screening.

Silver Linings Playbook

If this doesn’t win I’m going to throw something through a window. Or not, no, I’m FINE.

Zero Dark Thirty

Didn’t Jeremy Renner star in this like 2 years ago?

Best Actor you ask?

Bradley Cooper

He has come a long way from doing a cameo on Sex and the City.

Daniel Day-Lewis
